"Can DSQ Discovery connect to what we're already using?"
We hear this a lot, and the answer is "it depends". Does your current software & process support an API connection? Can it introduce agent-based workflows? Switching software is one thing. Ripping out a workflow your team has built around, including accounting systems, customer portals, vendor communication processes, is another.
Let's look at how DSQ Discovery handles "integration".
DSQ Discovery's Native Integration Is QuickBooks
If you're using QuickBooks, DSQ Discovery connects directly. Invoice data flows into your accounting system without manual export steps or a middleware workaround.
This is DSQ Discovery's out-of-the-box connection. Everything else is handled through our API.
Why? Because DSQ Discovery's ultimate end is to help you bill your customers on time and accurately, and to pay your vendors accurately too. That's why we natively connect to QuickBooks.
For everything else, the API and agents can usually accomplish the same outcome as an "integration".
What the API Actually Lets You Do
DSQ Discovery's API is a REST API with full CRUD capabilities. Your team can interact with DSQ Discovery's data the same way they would inside the platform — reading, writing, updating, removing. That distinction matters if your operation has workflows that need more than a one-way data connection.
The ways customers are using the API today:
- Customer-facing applications. Some customers maintain their own client-facing portals. They use the DSQ Discovery API to pull data into those applications, so their users and customers see up-to-date service and billing information without logging into a separate system.
- Custom communication workflows. Teams with specific vendor or customer notification processes use the API to trigger outbound emails and communications based on data inside DSQ Discovery, without rebuilding those workflows from scratch.
- Alternative accounting systems. Not everyone is on QuickBooks. Customers who use other accounting platforms have connected them directly to DSQ Discovery via the API.
- Platform migrations. Teams moving from other platforms have used the API to help support their onboarding, pulling existing data into DSQ Discovery in a structured way.
- Reporting outside the platform. Some customers want waste cost data living inside their own BI tools or dashboards. The API makes that possible without manual exports.
What This Means for Your Setup
If your operation is straightforward, you may not need the API at all. DSQ Discovery handles invoice auditing, contract validation, and portfolio reporting natively. For many teams, that's enough.
If your operation has custom workflows, the API is how those connections get built. This is for the company with a homegrown system, a proprietary customer portal, or an accounting platform that isn't QuickBooks.
The practical implication: DSQ Discovery doesn't require you to abandon what's already working. If your team needs to connect external systems and workflows to Discovery, our API gives them the ability to do it.
