The DSQ Pioneer Monitor delivers proactive, predictive automation using the industry's most accurate tonnage and haul management system. Pioneer forecasts optimal pickup times based on data from each run cycle and historical data, and then directly schedules its own pickup with haulers — no human-in-the-loop required.  Pioneer also includes tonnage data input automatically with no manual data entry required.  

SmartTrash supplies real-time fullness data. It reads current fullness and generates an emailed alert to the user when the compactor reaches the pre-set fullness threshold.  SmartTrash does not appear to offer predictive haul scheduling automation or automatic tonnage data input.  

2. Equipment & Installation & User Interface

DSQ Pioneer:

• Simple, minimally invasive install—typically < 20 minutes.  No interaction with hydraulic hoses. Hardware mounts with magnets inside control panel. No return visits required.  

• Measuring electric signals only – no drilling or adjustments to the compactor or control panel. No need for specialty installation skills.

• Modern, intuitive UI consistent across web and mobile.

• Independent technology provider. Usable by any broker, hauler or waste generator.  

SmartTrash:

• Installation  takes about an hour. It does not involve hydraulic hose interaction, but does involve completing wiring on-site, drilling to attach the monitor and scan/fax back of the “monitor install form”.  See youtube video

• Measures electrical signals. Optional RFID system is more complicated with additional set up to achieve additional functionality.  

• User interface is more dated and less intuitive.  

• Reports, for value add, savings or sustainability purposes are dependent on manual data entries, which introduces potential inconsistencies from user to user.
